Community Empowerment Network

To enable the voluntary and community sector to play an active role in the Enfield Strategic Partnership, the Community Empowerment Network has been set up to combine the strengths of the different voluntary and community groups in Enfield.

Initial meetings have proposed a number of key tasks for the Community Empowerment Network:

Raising awareness of the Enfield Strategic Partnership Effective communication among different groups Undertaking local research and needs analysis Enabling community organisations to participate fully through capacity building Enabling smaller community groups to engage and make links with the Enfield Strategic Partnership and the Community Strategy

At a recent meeting these issues were discussed and it was agreed that effective information is vital for the success of the partnership. It was realised that each group had a part to play in communicating the aims and successes of the Community Empowerment Network to the people of Enfield.

Towards the end of 2002 community representatives will be elected to take part in the Enfield Strategic Partnership. Maureen Juliana-Harvey, the Community Empowerment Network co-ordinator has been in post since 1st August 2002.
