The mortgage company web design specialists

There is a right way and a wrong way when it comes to designing any website. The whole point of a website is to attract individuals to buy your products or services.

And when it comes to financial products, then a lot of consideration has to be given to the mortgage company website design. There are certain factors that a site should include which ensures that the site is clear and not mis-leading for the consumer.

Individuals who go online when they are looking to take out a mortgage go there of course to buy, but also to get access to vital information. This information enables them to decide which type of mortgage would be most suitable for their requirements. A mortgage company website design should give both the company and the consumer what they are looking for. One of the first factors that have to be taken into account is the key facts that come with all mortgage deals. This information must be given on the website and it should be made clear. Mortgages come with technical jargon but the company website can break this down by way of FAQs into plain, easy to understand English.

In 2005/2006, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) reviewed a snapshot of financial websites, looking at both the information contained on them and the ease of use of the mortgage company website design. They reviewed 77 sites over a period of 133 visits. Of these, the majority were found to be giving the correct information and passed the scrutiny of the FSA. However, around 25% failed, some of these had poor design that was hard to navigate. Poor site navigation can lead to the consumer getting frustrated so much that they turn to a competitor’s website. However it can also lead to them making a rash decision and taking on a mortgage that is unsuitable for their circumstances or that they cannot afford to repay. Other failings highlighted by the FSA were the failure to include key information regarding the mortgages they were selling.

It is also essential when considering the mortgage company website design to take great care when it comes to website-based promotions. The FSA insists that this should be taken very seriously, so the consumer is not mis-lead. The FSA had previously given good and bad examples of websites and they expect these to be followed. If not they intend to crack down on companies when they review again imminently.

When planning the mortgage company website design, give some thought to keeping the website up-to-date. Make space for such as the latest news regarding your company. This allows consumers to know what your company is doing. If you have such as a company newsletter then set aside a part of your website where this can be downloaded, along with any other informative information. An “About us” page should also be considered. This can include the company’s history, background and you can introduce key staff in the company. It could also help the consumer if you included a links page where you could include web addresses and phone numbers for independent organisations such as the Citizens Advice, the Financial Services Authority and Office of Fair Trading.
